Exciting Software Developer opportunity to support The Gene Ontology Project
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2011-01-20 09:39The Gene Ontology project is a major bioinformatics initiative with the aim of standardizing the representation of gene and gene product attributes across species and databases.
At the core of the project is an ontology consisting of 30,000 classes arranged in a graph-like structure. The ontology is in the process of being integrated with other orthogonal ontologies such as the Cell Ontology, CHEBI and anatomical ontologies. The ontology is currently
constructed by domain experts using OBO-Edit (Day-Richter 2007), in combination with a web-based system called TermGenie.
